To coincide with the release of Skyline tomorrow I thought I'd let this week's poll be for your favourite alien invasion movies. I've been quite strict with the rules - no atomic mutations (e.g. the original Godzilla), aliens only. Plus they have to be seen to be fully invading the planet, not just sneaking in and killing a few people (e.g. The Thing). Starship Troopers almost snuck in but I decided that because you don't really watch Earth getting invaded it doesn't really count. As ever, express your opinions in the comments section.

I never thought of that as an alien invasion movie but I guess it is. It’s been ages since I’ve seen it I can hardly remember what happened. Everyone’s always banging on about how underrated it is though, I should give it a rewatch one of these days.

Would people class District 9 as an alien invasion movie? I wasn’t sure – they land on the planet and there is aggression, but they’re not really invading as such. The humans are more the enemy in that film.

    Thoughts?
