Lexip™, a leading European and North American gaming accessory brand since 2018, is thrilled to announce its UK debut with a stunning range of Naruto™ Shippuden-licensed products and we’ve been lucky enough to have been given a sample to review.
Lexip has partnered with Tsume® Art, a world-renowned design agency specialising in the creation of quality products inspired by the world of manga, anime and video games, to create a collection of twelve meticulously crafted accessories featuring iconic characters from Naruto Shippuden – Sasuke, Kakashi, and Madara.
The accessories in this range, with a full set available based on each of the aforementioned characters, include a wireless controller, a wired mouse, a wireless gaming headset and a mousepad. We were sent a full set of Madara accessories to review.
Naruto Shippuden, the beloved anime series following the adventures of young ninja Naruto Uzumaki, has captured the hearts of millions worldwide. This new range brings the show’s epic world to life with unprecedented detail.
Each product showcases gorgeous artwork from Cyril Marchiol of Tsume Art. Transparent materials and intricate design elements highlight the series’ signature shuriken, armor, and mythical creatures. With some hidden details and Easter eggs, these accessories are a must-have for any Naruto fan.
They certainly look good then, but how do they perform?
Looking at the controller first, I was very happy with this. It has a very comfortable design, with soft, grippy material for your palms and sturdy, responsive buttons and sticks. The triggers have a nice level of tension on them and the buttons give a satisfying click. You need to use the included dongle to get it to work wirelessly (at least on my system), which might be a problem for those running out of ports but it didn’t bother me.
I managed to get it to work with both my PC and Nintendo Switch and it worked very well, though the button layout is different to that of the Switch, which might be confusing to those who still look at the letters on their controllers. I’ll certainly be using this regularly from now on though for both devices.
As for the headset, you get a USB-C to USB-A cable to charge the headset and also a USB-C to jack cable to plug into your audio port. There’s only one USB-C port though so you can’t have both in at the same time.
I found the audio quality to be very good through both Bluetooth and wired connections. I also tested them with my phone listening to music and it sounded great. I found it a little quiet when going through the controller playing on the Switch though.
There’s a cushion on the headband for comfort and it’s incredibly soft. The headphones are adjustable, though the smallest size seemed fairly large to me. Being a large, softly padded headset, it might get a bit hot wearing this on warmer days but it’s extremely comfortable.
The microphone can be detached if you don’t need it or can simply be muted using a button on the headset. There’s a volume control on the headset too, which is handy.
The mouse is a tricky one to rate. Movement is fluid and responsive and I like the look and feel of it, plus there’s a handy array of extra buttons and a joystick for advanced players. However, after installing the mouse, I seemed to get problems with my PC crashing regularly. I’m fairly certain this was the Lexip software I downloaded to customise it though, rather than the mouse itself. Indeed, after uninstalling the software, I don’t seem to be getting the same problems. Perhaps this is an issue that an update will address though, if it hasn’t already (I uninstalled the software a couple of weeks ago).
Finally, we come to the mouse mat. This looks cool (particularly when plugged in and lit up) and works well with the mouse in terms of motion, for the most part, but the raised USB connector at the top gets in the way of the mouse cord when using it in the middle of the mat. This is quite a bad design flaw. I got used to using my mouse on one side of the mat, but then the other half of it is basically wasted space. I must admit, I soon gave up on it as it was using a lot of space on my small desk.
So, the accessories aren’t all perfect but, for the most part, they work very effectively and certainly all look great. I imagine my software issues with the mouse will be dealt with soon, if they haven’t already, and most of the set (bar the mouse mat) will be getting good use in my household, so I’m happy with it.
