Although I really enjoy a lot of the Batman films I still don’t full on love any of them to be honest. I voted for Batman Returns purely because I find it the most interesting due to it’s surreal nature and awesome visual style, but it’s a bit of a mess of a film.

The Nolan films are solid, but lack that certain something for me. They tend to take themselves a little too seriously, knocking their entertainment value back a bit, especially given their epic running times. I’m all for a darker Batman, but Nolan pushes it a little too far into ‘important’ or ‘worthy’ territory rather than just moody or edgy.
