We’re good to you aren’t we. Hot on the heels of our exclusive Open City Docs Fest competition, we’ve got another exciting opportunity for you, our readers, to win some top notch goodies. Our good friends at Metrodome Distribution have 3 copies of the stylish and violent horror remake Maniac, starring Elijah Wood, to give away on DVD. Yes, I know ‘remake’ can be a dirty word, but as my review explains this is a remake that is “definitely worthy of your attention”. Moodily shot and dripping with blood, it’s a grimly effective horror film with an interesting technical trick up its sleeve.

Here’s some more information on Maniac to let you know more:

We warned you not to go out tonight. Just when the downtown Los Angeles streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new photo exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.

From producers/writers Alexander Aja and Gregory Levasseur (Switchblade Romance, The Hills Have Eyes, Mirrors, Piranha) and director Franck Khalfoun (P2)

Maniac is a stylized and technical triumph, with a nerve-shredding Argento tribute score – the entire movie is shot from the killer’s point-of-view.

DVD & Blu-Ray Release date 1st July 2013

To be in with a chance of winning, post a caption for the image below in the comments section and also email the comment (subject – ‘Maniac Competition’) along with your postal address to: Our staff will pick out their favourite 3 comments as the winners.
