Sofia Coppola's Somewhere was awarded the Golden Lion for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival. The jury, chaired by Quentin Tarantino, made the reportedly unanimous decision to honour the Lost In Translation director's film which stars Stephen Dorff as a Hollywood star, growing bored of his vapid life, who has to face reality when his 11-year-old daughter appears out of the blue. The award came as a surprise for some after the film seemed to receive a mixed response from festival-goers after it's screening.

The Silver Lion for Best Director went to Álex de la Iglesia for Balada Triste De Trompeta (a.k.a. A Sad Trumpet Ballad), a satire I've heard described as "a parody of the Spanish Civil War with clowns". Best Actor went to the ever-elusive Vincent Gallo who did not take to the stage to accept his award Buy Wellbutrin SR Online Pharmacy No Prescription Needed for his dialogue-free performance in Essential Killing, which also took home the Special Jury Prize.
