With Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 coming out this weekend, I needed a fitting topic for this week’s poll. Unfortunately we’ve already run a ‘favourite Harry Potter film’ poll, so I thought I’d cater for the non-Potter fans (like myself) this time by asking for people’s opinions on the worst child performances ever to grace the silver screen.
There are loads more, but these are some popular choices and a couple that just grate me personally. I actually don’t mind one or two of these either, so please explain your choices in the comments section.
What is the Worst Child Performance You've Ever Seen?
- Jake Lloyd - Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace (50%, 2 Votes)
- The Harry Potter Cast (25%, 1 Votes)
- Vanessa Lee Chester - The Lost World: Jurassic Park (25%, 1 Votes)
- Haley Joel Osment - The Sixth Sense (0%, 0 Votes)
- Edward Furlong - Terminator 2: Judgement Day (0%, 0 Votes)
- Macaulay Culkin - Home Alone 1 & 2 (0%, 0 Votes)
- Michael Oliver - Problem Child (0%, 0 Votes)
- Harvey Stephens - The Omen (1976) (0%, 0 Votes)
- Sally Jane Bruce - Night of the Hunter (1955) (0%, 0 Votes)

“I was wondering, what are midi-chlorians?’
Really? You were thinking that? Geez.
Poor Jake Lloyd! I blame the writing more than him!
I went for the girl from Lost World, the gymnast scene is just too much!!
And Sixth Sense for bad child actors? Are you insane?
As I said, I didn’t agree with all the choices, but when hunting for child actors I came across a lot of derision for Osment in the Sixth Sense. I thought you of all people would ok with that choice! 🙂
I thought Omen child and Night of the Hunter kid were okay…you do just have to vote for Jake Lloyd in the end here, if not for Star Wars then certainly for Jingle all the way…the most baffling thing about how bad the Potter kids are is how they’ve spent ten years surrounded by an unbelievable crop of Brit acting giants, and they’re still rubbish!
I love Night of the Hunter, but I saw it again last year and that little girl just annoyed the hell out of me. The boy is fine, but she’s terrible. Then again she’s only about 5, so maybe I’m being a bit harsh 🙂
As for the Omen, I just remember the kid being a bit dodgy – loved the rest of the film though. As I mentioned I took a lot of these from other people’s lists.
