If you’re feeling like getting in the Halloween spirit a little early this weekend why not check out Sheffield’s finest horror festival Celluloid Screams. Taking place between Friday 22nd October and Sunday 24th October at Sheffield’s Showroom Cinema, the festival boasts an exciting mix of classic screenings (generally from 35mm prints) such as The Omen and City of The Living Dead as well as premiere screenings of the scariest independent horror films such as the awesome Mexican cannibal drama We Are What We Are (which I caught in Cannes – it’s an absolute must see). A number of guest speakers will also be there including Catriona MacColl, star of City of The Living Dead and several other Fulci classics.

Head over to the festival’s website for a full lineup as well as information on how to book tickets. I’ll be there for the whole weekend so expect a full writeup of proceedings in the coming weeks.
